Vaiya Enterprise E-commerce
Multi-Admin E-Commerce Storefront & Custom Operations CMS
A production full-stack e-commerce storefront and multi-admin content management system built with Next.js, MongoDB, and Cloudinary media pipelines.
Project Overview
Vaiya Enterprise E-commerce is a full-stack digital commerce platform engineered to support product catalog browsing, customer order and quote workflows, role-based administrator management, and direct Cloudinary media uploads.
Business Context
Growing retail and wholesale businesses in Bangladesh need a fast online storefront paired with an internal dashboard that non-technical staff can use to update products, manage stock visibility, upload product photography/video walkthroughs, and track customer orders.
Problem Statement
Managing product catalogs, promotional media, and customer orders across disconnected spreadsheets or messaging apps creates inventory mismatches and slow customer response times. The business needed a unified web storefront and multi-admin management console.
Project Objectives
- Build a responsive, fast-loading storefront where customers can browse active products and services and submit structured order requests.
- Implement a role-based admin dashboard for managing catalog items, inventory status, customer records, and media assets.
- Calculate order totals on the server from database catalog records rather than trusting client-side price payloads.
- Integrate signed Cloudinary image and video upload pipelines so administrators can publish product media directly from the browser.
My Contribution
I designed and built the full-stack application end-to-end—including the Next.js App Router frontend, MongoDB/Mongoose schemas, role-based session authentication, server-side order pricing logic, and signed Cloudinary upload APIs.
Technical Architecture
The platform uses Next.js App Router with Node.js API route handlers connected to MongoDB via Mongoose with connection pooling. Authentication uses HTTP-only session cookies backed by SHA-256 hashed session tokens in MongoDB. Media uploads request short-lived SHA-1 cryptographic signatures from the server and stream files directly to Cloudinary.
Technology Stack
Key Features Built
Multi-Admin Operations Console
Role-verified dashboard enabling administrators to create, edit, and archive catalog items, review customer inquiries, and manage store policies.
Server-Verified Catalog & Order Engine
Order and quote requests validate product availability and compute pricing strictly on the server, snapshotting item names and unit prices for historical accuracy.
Signed Direct-to-Cloudinary Media Pipeline
Browser-to-Cloudinary image and video upload workflow using server-generated signatures and automatic client-side video frame thumbnail extraction.
Responsive Product Discovery & Filtering
Mobile-friendly catalog layout with clear stock indicators, category grouping, and accessible product cards.
Engineering Challenges
- Preventing client-side price tampering when customers submit multi-item product orders or service requests.
- Handling large product image and video uploads in a serverless deployment environment with strict request body size limits.
- Maintaining strict separation between public visitors, registered customers, subscribers, and administrators.
Solutions Implemented
- Engineered the order API to ignore browser-submitted prices, look up authoritative item prices in MongoDB, and store immutable price snapshots on each order document.
- Implemented signed direct uploads to Cloudinary so binary media files bypass serverless API payload limits while MongoDB stores only verified `https://res.cloudinary.com` URLs and public IDs.
- Built a centralized `lib/auth.js` verification layer with HTTP-only cookies, origin checks, and role helpers (`admin`, `subscriber`, `user`).
Screenshots & Interface Highlights

Multi-Admin CMS & Media Management
Role-protected dashboard for catalog management, order tracking, and signed Cloudinary media uploads.

Lessons Learned
- Never trust client-submitted pricing or stock state—re-computing totals on the server and snapshotting catalog data prevents subtle data integrity bugs when product prices change later.
- Direct signed uploads to a media CDN keep serverless API routes fast, lightweight, and reliable.
